Requesting genealogy materials
The Rabun County Library is a small library and does not have a dedicated Genealogy staff. Despite that fact, we happily accept your genealogy requests and will do all that we can to research, locate the information, and respond quickly.
Please adhere to the following guidelines when requesting lookups from the Library's Genealogy & Georgia History Collection:
-
All requests must be in writing via letter or email. The Library staff cannot take research requests by telephone.
-
Please include your name and mailing address with all correspondence and include a SASE. Be specific when requesting information.
-
For example, "I am looking for an obituary for John Smith who died August 15, 1923 in the Chechero area."
-
Non specific requests such as "Could you please send me all the information you have on the Smith family?" cannot be filled.
-
-
There is no charge for lookups; however, the costs for copying, mailing, and other incidental fees must be paid by the querying party.
-
Please be aware that queries are answered on a first-come, first-serve basis and as time permits. Requests for information must be brief. Lengthy requests requiring in-depth research cannot be performed.
Requests for lookups should be sent to:
Genealogy Department Rabun County Public Library
